30,899 Runners D-Tagged
Since acquiring the Chronotrack system in mid February of 2009, we have score 30,899 runners in thirty-three events. That's an average of 936 finishers per event. Of those thirty-three events nineteen of them used a starting mat for net times, one used two mats for separate finish lines, three had a half-way mat and two used an announcer mat. The Great Bay Half Marathon was the first event to use the announcer function of Chronotrack. We setup a mat about 30 meters before the finish line. As runners crossed this mat, their name and information flashed on a computer screen. This allowed Andy Schachat, the race announcer, to announce their name at about the same time they crossed the finish line. The entire system is wireless.
