Reward your entrants with an individualized E-postcard

Chances are that at one point in your running life you ran a race and received a postcard several days later containing all your race data. I recently came across one from the 1983 Boston Marathon. The postage was thirteen cents. Today the postage of a similar postcard would be forty-two cents. Wow, how thing have changed!

The front to the card stated, “The data on the reverse side of this card was calculated by a Honeywell Level 6 computer system within minutes after you crossed the finish line at Prudential Center. Within the next few days, thousands of other runners will be receiving notices similar to this one.” The postcard was postmarked April 22 and the marathon that year was April 18. Receiving individual results one week after the race at the time seemed pretty amazing.

Things have certainly accelerated over the past 26 years. Today's chip timing allows results to be calculated instantaneously and complete results are usually posted to the internet within hours after the event. However even with all this great technology, I must admit I miss getting those postcards.

Today your event can have postcards sent to each participant without paying the high cost of postage or printing. Yankee Timing now offers an electronic postcard (E-postcards) that is sent to each participant who supplies a valid email address. This electronic version of the postcard contains all the same running stats that the 1983 version contained and best of all it's green – no post event waste.

Unlike 1983 when you waited a week to get your card ours are usually emailed within a 24 hours of the event. We offer this service FREE to all events that use the D-Tag timing system. After someone has had a positive experience at your event, sending an E-postcard is a great way to build loyalty and remembrance of your event.

D-Tag Timing Returns to New Hampshire

Newmarket, NH -- After a very successful debut at the Half at the Hamptons on February 15, the D-tag is returning to the Granite state for the second time. The Great Bay Half-Marathon and 5K will feature this exciting new technology.

“We’re thrilled Loco Sports has again selected the D-tag technology,” says Yankee Timing president and founder Dave Camire. “Over the past five weeks we have scored 5243 runners in five different events with the D-tag, however it was Mike and Linda St. Laurent of Loco Sports who first embraced this new technology. Their events have always been leading edge and now so are their finish and starting line technology.”

The second annual Great Bay Half Marathon takes place on April 5^th in Newmarket, NH. This year a 5-kilometer race has been added. A runner’s expo, held on Saturday, accompanies the event. Runners can pickup their D-tag and runner’s packet at the expo or on race morning.

Yankee Timing Introducing D-tag to Rhode Island

Providence, RI -- Yankee Timing will be scoring the first annual St. Pat’s 5K Road Race in Providence, RI on March 21. The race will start and finish at the Rhode Island State House on Smith Street, in downtown. Race director Charlie Breagy is expecting to welcome between 2500 and 3000 to the state capital.

This will be the first time the D-tag, a disposable timing chip; will be used in the state of Rhode Island. Yankee Timing recently successfully introduced this new technology to New Hampshire at the Half at the Hamptons on February 15 in Hampton, NH. The technology was also used to time the Wild Rover Series which consisted on three Irish theme races run on consecutive Sunday’s in the Merrimack Vally of Massachusetts.

Revolutionary Disposable Timing Tag to be used at Hampton Half and Wild Rover Series

Hampton Beach, NH -- Yankee Timing will be introducing the D-Tag by Chronotrack to this year’s Hampton Half and Wild Rover Series. This disposable tag replaces the returnable chip used in the timing industry the past decade. This eliminates the need for post race chip collection. It also simplifies pre-race distribution since the tag is adhered to the number along with instructions on how it is affixed to the shoe. The Hampton Half takes place Feb 15 in Hampton, NH. The Wild Rover Series consist of three races: Frozen Shamrock Feb 22, Claddagh Mar 1 and Hynes Mar 8.
